Have a sneaky listen to another great tune from North London Band ‘Private Life’ (bear in mind It’s a rough edit compared to the Golden Leaves track on their website but mighty all the same!)
Up and coming North London band “Private Life” are clearly working pretty hard at the moment playing the North London Circuit; they recently played to a very happy crowd at Heroes in Camden and will be playing Proud Galleries Thursday 8th March and the Queens Head on the 18th March.
I’ve seen them a couple of times now and they get better every time- they have already gained a loyal following and the buzz of the crowd only enhances their up-beat melodies and catchy riffs, think Metronomy & Cutcopy with a less electro, louder drums & more guitar (+ the odd tambourine for good measure!)
I’ve just listened to their insanely catchy EP ‘Golden Leaves’ and now all I want to do is have a BBQ in the sunshine with a bunch of friends and cold cider… sounds like a cliched Bulmers advert it’s true, but I one I’d love to be in right now!
You can check out their website for latest gigs / news & tunes (have a listen to Golden Leaves’ on there too) and catch them live at Proud Galleries in Camden tomorrow night.

Sleigh Bells are playing the wonderfully grotty Electric Ballroom in Camden tonight as part of a mini tour around the UK, following the release of new album ‘Reign of Terror’ this Feb. If, like me you missed them the first time round this is definitely worth a look (though you may have to do some digging etc as the re-sale value on seatwave is £30 at themo vs £35 for 2 on gumtree!)
My jammy friends who made it to their Lexington gig in 2010 still rave about the crazy infectious energy Alexis Krauss emits whilst thrashing around to flashing lights, and melodically singing yelling, over distorted tunes…I’m not sure I’m selling it well, but judging from their huge success over the past 2 years and sell-out gigs, I don’t need to! Definitely a dance your pants off kind of a night - marvellous!
Do you want the good news or the bad news first?
Good news…Canadian rapper Drake will be touring the UK in 2012 starting in London on the 26th March… bad news? Apparently he’s playing the 02 arena(!) Despite recently rejecting the arenas for cosier venues in Canada This year. If you have enough love that you can overlook this, tickets go on sale this Friday (16/12)
Catch north london talent private life & francobollo (he loves his bicycle) at Angel’s mighty Queens Head this Friday night (09/12)…

Some top tunes from 2010. And not necessarily THE top tunes of 2010, just a bunch that we really quite like. And there are in fact 11… just couldn’t whittle it down to the usual 10. Done.
Twin Shadow “Castles in the Snow”
Angel Echoes “Four Tet”
